Space spider got nothin’ on Dr. Ross Jennings.

The most captivating image from the Mercury Messenger Spacecraft is the one seen here, called the Spider. It is believed to be formed from an asteroid impact and is referred to as the Caloris basin, some 950 miles wide. Also discovered was that Mercury, unlike our moon, has huge mountain ranges and is littered with dormant volcanoes.
Yippee. Now we can just wait till the Messenger settles into orbit (sometime in 2011) and then the data and images will get really out of control. Rumors are already abuzz at the Carnegie Institution of Washington that Dr. Ross Jennings is planning to lead the assault against the Mercurial spider colony, be them friend or foe, cause he just doesn’t care.
“Respect is fine, but actually I’ve always wanted to be feared.”
You damn right.
