Internet Terrorism is Real??

I’ve been thinking about this for a few days, since the undersea internet wires connecting the majority of communications between the middle east and the outside world were “cut”, but admittedly, Monday’s edition of Rocketboom beat me to the punch.
Isn’t it odd, that some government report (i’ll find the link later… if I FEEL LIKE IT!) noted that the internet should be regarded as a weapon in the wrong hands, and here, we have these cables connecting the middle east to the rest of the world being snipped, and officials are refusing to speculate about why. Know what that makes me wonder? I’ll tell you.
What happened over there in the last few days that we don’t know about. They’ve had virtually no communication with the outside world (their phones, satellites, internet, etc. were all interrelated here). Kind of curious. Watson? Your take?
UPDATE: It’s now being reported that a fifth cable was cut. Obviously this must be one recurring accident. Silly ship captains and their lazy anchor-dragging ways. Rumors are saying that Iran is offline altogether, though some are discrediting this claim.
