Music, free music, I wish I could caress… and kiss.

Someday, music will be free again. Someday you won’t be charged to hear the sweet sounds of another’s Manic Depression. As someone who has written and performed music and made less from it than I spent on last night’s bar tab, and as someone who still stubbornly believes in free art and the idealism of free beauty, I do think it’s possible that we could see the market of downloaded music evolve drastically in the coming months and years.

In fact, plans are already under way. There are murmurs swirling round that major labels and distributors are in serious discussions about legalizing peer-to-peer (p2p) file sharing, or at least charging a minimal fee for an all-you-can-download buffet, as the music industry appears to be finally bowing to the reality of the iEra.

Finally, I can download all the Metallica my devious heart desires without the fear of being quarantined from society and shot to death by a firing squad.  Thanks, music industry bigwigs!
