“Do you know how to read, you ignorant fuck?”
~Andy Dufresne
I like humor. I like satire. I like music. I like TV. I like movies. I like to write. I like to read (actual books!). I like to make fun of idiots. I like to deflate over-inflated egos. I like to pop bubbles of false-confidence. I like to destroy the blinders that people place over their eyes.
I am reality. I shoot straight. I’m not putting up a pretense or beating around the bush. And I love cliches. Sometimes.
I hate exclamation points, but I use them occasionally. If you think that is a form of hypocrisy, then you’ve got issues that need immediate professional attention. And spell-check is my best friend.
The ultimate goal in writing is clarity. The ultimate goal of any writer is translating clarity of mind into clarity of communication. Writing is formalized thought. Humor is breaking the rules.
If you are afraid of language, if you’re afraid of words and ideas that might not conform to your world-view, then suck it up or jump ship.
The shackles that bind our minds to the present keep possibility at bay and dim our ability to understand our own existence. When we wear a veil of illusions, they inevitably come crashing down. Most human minds don’t survive that kind of reboot, not without massive performance deficiencies.
My intention is to poke holes through my illusions, and maybe yours while I’m at it.
Clarity.
